  • The first step you should do is prepare the steaks. You should season the steaks on both sides with salt and pepper. Then heat a grill or a skillet on medium heat. 
  • Put the steaks in the pan or skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side depending on thickness. 
  • The next step is to cook the onions. You should add 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil to the same skillet or pan you used for steaks.
  • Add the thinly sliced onions and cook on medium heat until they are soft and caramelized, for 10-15 minutes.
  • Now also add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, and Dijon mustard. Cook for another 2-3 minutes. Then remove the skillet from the heat and set aside.
  • Now in this step, you have to toast the bread. Heat another skillet or griddle over medium heat and also add a little butter to it.
  • Cook the bread slices in the skillet and toast on both sides until golden brown. Set aside.
  • Put a slice of toasted bread on a plate and top with a portion of caramelized onions.
  • Now place a steak on top of the onions and sprinkle fresh herbs on the steak if desired.
  • Add another slice of bread on top of the steak and repeat with the remaining steaks and bread slices.
